Martin Bockler, DMD

Originally from New York, Dr. Bockler received his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Polytechnic Institute of New York and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Dr Bockler started practicing Dentistry in New York in 1976, and brings some 40 years of experience in Adult, Geriatric, Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry to our practice.

In 1993, Dr. Bockler joined the teaching faculty of Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Besides clinical teaching duties, he was the Director of Dental Anatomy and Occlusion. It was his responsibility to teach dental students the science of the oral cavity—i.e. how the teeth and the jaws relate.

He taught the Anatomy of the Temporomandibular Joint, (TMJ), and how TMJ dysfunction is created and treated.

Dr. Bockler taught the “Anatomy of the Smile” showing students how to create and restore the smile to natural form and function. He has used his knowledge of the teeth, jaws and face not only to create beautiful smiles but to perform the “Dental Face Lift”. By restoring the lost distance between the upper and lower Jaws, (the “Vertical Dimension” of the mouth), he can diminish lines and creases around the mouth and create a more youthful appearance. The ability to restore “vertical dimension” to his senior patients adds an entire new dimension to the concept of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Dr Bockler is a life member of the American Dental Association and a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon the National Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Bockler is married, has 2 grown children & 2 grandchildren. He, his wife, & their dog Fritz and parrot Gomez live in Myrtle Beach. He spends his free time enjoying the beach with his family & clay target shooting.
